crafting confidence
Format: 8 sessions, 3 hours each (24 hours total)
Class size: Small group up to 8 people
Level: Intermediate
Course Description
Crafting Confidence builds on the foundations developed in Woodworking 101 and introduces students to more advanced skills and creative independence. Each student selects a project that challenges them to plan, measure, and assemble with precision — examples include wall shelves, book or tablet stands, step stools, mini storage boxes, or multi-part puzzles.
Throughout the class, students will:
Use hand tools together with basic power tools .
Design their own project plan and technical drawing.
Measure, cut, and fit components with improved accuracy.
Learn and practice stronger joinery (lap joints, dadoes, dowels).
Assemble using fasteners, wood glue, and clamps.
Sand, stain, and apply finishing coats safely.
Practice workshop organization and time management.
Present finished project at the final session.
Prerequisites
- Prior completion of Woodworking 101 or similar beginner-level hand-tool experience.
- Comfort using basic hand tools (saws, hammers, measuring tools).
- Familiarity with basic workshop safety procedures.
All materials and tools are provided, including access to low-speed power tools.
Philosophy
This course is not about producing an object. It is about becoming someone others can rely on.
At The Craftr, we don’t teach shortcuts, tricks, or recipes. We teach a way of working where process comes first, decisions are owned, and trust is earned through visible action. Every participant is expected to make real decisions, execute them without rescue, and take full responsibility for the outcome. Mistakes are not hidden. Results are not corrected behind the scenes. Nothing is done “just to pass the course.” Because if the process is compromised, the outcome is irrelevant. Trust is built when work is transparent, standards are consistent, and accountability is clear. This is why The Craftr is not about woodworking alone. Wood is simply the medium. What we practice here applies to any craft, discipline, or profession: a repeatable process, clear ownership, and professional integrity.
This course follows the same approach at every level. Only the complexity of the work changes —the standard never does.
Vision
Our vision is to foster creativity in a safe, supportive environment. We offer authentic, hands‑on experiences—no kits or pre‑cut materials—so every project is truly unique. We strive to build positive attitudes, confidence, and teamwork while teaching practical skills. With your support, we’re building a thriving community of young makers.
What You’ll Achieve
By the end of this course, your child will have a completed project to be proud of, confidence using hand tools, knowledge of basic joinery, and a solid foundation for future woodworking adventures.
